Who am I? Good question.

To start, I am Nancy. Mom to Samantha, Hayden and Ryan. Married to Darren. A long time ago I was a Civil Engineer. That is the basics. Darren and I met in college because a childhood friend of mine thought it was funny for us to meet because we have the same last name. Well, I married that guy with the same last name and we have been together over 30 years now. We married young, had Samantha 18 months later. She was 3 months early, she didn’t even make it to the year she was due.

A few more things about me… I tend to swear a lot. I lose count how many times a day I say “are you f**king kidding me.” This is my warning that I will be swearing here. No more blocking out letters. I really like wine. I love to get lost in a book. I still enjoy running, even though I run about as fast as a turtle now. Swearing while experimenting with a recipe in the kitchen is good fun for me. I can gamble for 18 hours a day on those occasions Darren and I get to run away to Vegas. I truly cannot stand country music. Darren loves it, I have tried and nope. I recently started swinging my golf clubs again, could really use some more swings. I love Disney and runDisney. I, as people who know me well, know I can be very vocal about my politics. I am a Democrat. Don’t like that, don’t read.

I hate that I know what a truly bad day is. I am thankful for the people I have met because of Sam. I know it could be worse. I have a husband who still puts up with me, a lovely home, a great community, and a wine fridge. Do I wish Samantha was healthy and not disabled? Every day. She’s been through so much and that is what I plan to share here with laughter and tears.
